Fat Grafting to Breast Surgery

Fat Grafting to Breast Surgery or lipofilling has established itself as an excellent technique to utilise fat removed by liposuction from the area where fat is abundant (thighs, buttocks, hips, abdomen and upper arms) into areas where there is lack of desired volume. This technique can be used to augment breast volume and improve its projection and shape in a natural way, avoiding the use of artificial material such as silicone implants. Therefore, patient can achieve desired breast augmentation with their own tissues whilst at the same time benefitting from targeted liposuction of those areas where they have excess fat. Procedure is safe, risks are very low and can be repeated if required.

Please use the below list of frequently asked question and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions or would like to discuss this procedure.

Patients who want to avoid all the problems related to silicone implants wishing to have breast augmentation due to smaller size breasts and excess fat in their flanks, thighs or abdomen are excellent candidates for this procedure. In addition, fat grafting to breasts is frequently offered to breast cancer patients who underwent breast reconstruction in the past and require additional volume to improve symmetry with the opposite breast.

Procedure is performed under general anaesthetic and involves liposuction-harvest of fat from the areas of excess (flanks, thighs, hips, abdomen) with liposuction cannula. Fat is then processed via special fat grafting system which separates fluid from pure fat and purifies fat grafts. Fat grafts are then infiltrated under the breast gland tissue through almost invisible tiny incision under the breast (in infra-mammary fold) to increase breast volume, projection and improve shape much like in breast augmentation but with patients’ own tissue.

Scars on the breasts are invisible as mr Kosutic would perform procedure through the fold under the breast and uses re-absorbable sutures on the outside, which does not require removal. Liposuction scars are tiny and well hidden.
Patients are discharged the same day and advised not to sleep on operated breasts for up to 6 weeks. Bruising from liposuction usually subsides in 4-6 weeks.
